Madrid, the vibrant capital of Spain, blends rich historical heritage with dynamic modern culture. Located in the heart of the Iberian Peninsula, the city is known for its grand boulevards, expansive parks, and impressive architecture. As Spain's political, economic, and cultural centre, Madrid offers a mix of old-world charm and contemporary urban energy.

Landmarks like the Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor highlight Madrid's historical roots, while Puerta del Sol serves as the symbolic heart of the city. Madrid is also an art lover's paradise, home to world-class museums such as the Prado, housing masterpieces by Velázquez and Goya, the Reina Sofía with Picasso’s "Guernica," and the Thyssen-Bornemisza, showcasing Western art from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.

Visiting Madrid is a great way to explore Spanish culture and the hustle and bustle of life in a capital city.

Located in the centre of the capital, the language school has 70 years of experience teaching Spanish as a foreign language. It is located close to the Salamanca area of Madrid, and it is possible to reach the centre of the city, Puerta del sol in under 30 mins by public transport and is a 20-minute walk from El Retiro Park. The building has 29 modern classrooms, a library of books and videos, an internet cafe and a zone designed to be cosy as a place to relax.

Language Course

The course package includes 25 lessons per week including 20 general lessons alongside international students of a similar level from a variety of ages 16+ which concentrate on learning and actively using Spanish. During these core lessons you will participate in group sessions alongside other students of a similar level, with lessons focused on improving all aspects of the language; speaking listening, reading and writing. In addition, there are a further 5, 1:1 lessons with content and focus specifically tailored to your requirements. We will ask you before you travel what you would like to cover with your tutor during these individual sessions, for example, grammar, conversation or translation.

This course is designed for students who wish to learn or improve their Spanish, meet new people and have some free time to participate in Spanish culture and life in Madrid

Optional Social and Cultural Programme

The school offers activities during the week such as guided tours of museums, trips to historical parks, bicycle tours, food tasting and flamenco dancing. These are offered on the day, and the price is reflected by the activity.

In the weekend excursions are organised to nearby cities such as Ávila, Segovia and Aranjuez. These are offered at a price and are optional, but they are a great way to learn about Spanish culture and practice your Spanish in a social setting with fellow students.

Accommodation

For students wanting to completely immerse themselves in the Spanish language and culture we recommend that you stay with one of our carefully selected Spanish hosts. They will not only introduce you to the Spanish way of life and help you practise the Spanish language but will also give you a taste of local and delicious regional specialities. The host accommodation is situated within 45 minutes total journey time of the school and provide half board accommodation (breakfast & evening meal) from the Sunday before your course starts to the Saturday after it finishes. Subject to availability, an extra day on one side of your trip may be available on request to facilitate flight dates.

Special diets can be accommodated, some of which have a small supplement.

Students also have the option of staying in one of the school residences with other international students in single room. This is on a half-board basis meaning breakfast and evening meals are provided. This accommodation is 18+, please contact us prior to booking if you would like this accommodation.

Transfers

Transfers can be arranged for a fee on request. Alternatively, we can provide directions and all the details you need to use public transport, the efficient and clean Metro runs straight from the airport to the city centre in only 20 minutes.

School Closures

The school will be closed on national public holidays. These holidays are; 01/11/2024, 06/12/2024, 21/12/2024 - 06/01/2025, 14/04/2025 - 20/04/2025, 01/05/2025, 02/05/2025, 15/05/2025, 25/07/2025, 15/08/2025 and 08/12/2025. There is a discount for cancelled classes due to public holidays.
