Location
Located in the Castille and Léon region, Salamanca is a city rich in culture and a centre of international historical interest. Known as La Dorada (the golden city), its sandstone buildings glow in the sunshine, contrasting with the blue of the Tormes river that flows beside it.
Salamanca, historically, is a university city giving it an exciting and youthful student atmosphere. This makes Salamanca a great place to experience Spanish life separate to tourism and to get involved in the hustle and bustle around you.
There is notable importance of Salamanca’s involvement in the birth of the modern Castilian Language which kickstarted the Spanish Golden Age. Due to this, Salamanca is a centre for teaching the Spanish language. The old town has been a UNESCO Heritage site since 1988 and it continues in wider importance in Europe, named the European City of Culture in 2002.
The Language school is located within a 10 minute walking distance from the Plaza Mayor, in a large square with gardens, trees, and green spaces. The building has been completely renovated and has all the latest technology. 23 air-conditioned classrooms with multimedia equipment, a video and conference room, a library, a kitchen specifically designed for cooking classes, as well as wireless Internet connection throughout the school.
Language Course
The core course comprises 20 lessons of 55 minutes each in the mornings, which concentrate on learning and actively using Spanish. The tuition is very much practice oriented. You will participate in group sessions alongside other students of a similar level, focusing on the core elements of the language; speaking, reading, writing and listening. Classes have an international flavour and a lively feel because they are grouped by ability not nationality or age.
In the afternoons you will participate in a work placement in one of our business categories in the afternoons.
