Young Adults Summer Camp

For students 16-20 years old, these courses are an excellent way of giving students the opportunity to spend time in Spain learning and enjoying the great variety of activities provided by the language school.

Participation in a summer camp enables full immersion at the language school and is a great way to make lasting friendships.

This course is Sunday to Saturday departure and runs from the 6th of July to the 2nd of August. The last possible start date is the 27th July for one week.

Students under 18 are supported by staff through weekly catch up meetings and are set an 11pm curfew. 

Location

Barcelona is the vibrant capital of Catalonia, which is an autonomous region in northeastern Spain, it boasts its own unique landmarks, culture and traditions. With a rich history the city has been influenced by a mix of cultures, including the Visigoths, Moors, and Spanish kings, each leaving a distinct imprint on its architecture and way of life. Barcelona seamlessly blends ancient customs with contemporary innovation, offering visitors a special experience that showcases its cultural depth. Strolling through its streets, you'll encounter a captivating fusion of influences that have made Barcelona a global cultural hotspot.

As Spain's second-most populous city, Barcelona is home to 1.6 million residents. It is the fifth most densely populated urban area in the European Union. Renowned for landmarks like the iconic Sagrada Familia, Barcelona also boasts must-see attractions such as Park Güell, Casa Batlló, the Gothic Quarter, Camp Nou, and a multitude of other captivating sites.

Located in the Dreta de l’Eixample of Barcelona, the school is only a block away from Gaudi’s Casa Batlló and surrounded by popular shopping streets. The school is based in a unique historic building that is gated off to the rest of the public. It has been modernised inside and now boasts 18 bright classrooms with smart boards, air conditioning a computer room as well as indoor and outdoor student common areas. The school is wheelchair accessible and has a lift.

Language Course

The course includes 20 lessons per week which will be split into:

  • 16 core lessons during which you will participate in group sessions alongside other students of a similar level, with lessons focused on improving all aspects of the language; speaking listening, reading and writing.
  • 2 lessons focused on completing a team project such as a presentation, game or debate.
  • 2 lessons where your tutor will take you into the city to practice Spanish in real world situations.

You will be given a written assessment before you travel and a speaking assessment on the first morning before lessons in order to place you in the group most suited to your ability level. Classes have an international flavour and a lively feel because they are grouped by ability not nationality.

This course is designed for students who wish to improve their Spanish, meet new people and have some free time to participate in Spanish culture and life in Barcelona.

Activties

The school organise a varied programme of supervised leisure activities, visits and excursions to introduce you to Spanish culture, sports, games and lifestyles in both the afternoon and the evening.

Examples include:

  • Guided visits around the city
  • Making Sangria and Paella
  • Beach games such as Volleyball
  • Yoga classes
  • Visits to the Olympic swimming pool
  • Graduation evening

There is also one workshops per week focused on self-improvement and real-life problems such as budget, cooking and first aid, mindfulness, and intercultural communication tricks.

The school also organise a weekly excursion at the weekend for students staying longer than one week. This can be somewhere within the local area such as Tarragona, Girona or Sitges.

Accommodation

Residence accommodation

Students on the Young Adult Summer Course who are over the age of 18 are offered the chance to stay in the student residence. This is in a modern building within the city and is located only 15 minutes by public transport from the language school. You will be in a single room with a private bathroom and small kitchenette. The accommodation is provided on a half board basis with breakfast and dinner being provided in the residence canteen.

Host Accommodation

For students wanting to completely immerse themselves in the Spanish language and culture we recommend that you stay with one of our carefully selected Spanish host accommodation. They will not only introduce you to the Spanish way of life and help you practise the Spanish language but will also give you a taste of local and delicious regional specialities. The host accommodation is situated within 50 minutes total journey time to the school and provide half board accommodation (breakfast & evening meal) from the Sunday before your course starts to the Saturday after it finishes.

Special diets can be accommodated, some of which have a small supplement.

Students who are under 18 on this course are required to either stay in host accommodation or stay with a parent or guardian in alternative accommodation.

Transfers

Return transfers are included in the price of the accommodation. This will be a group transfer from the airport. Please let us know your arrival and departure times at least 2 weeks before your arrival so that this can be organised. 

School Closures

The school will not be closed during the Summer camp.
