Work and Study work placements take place in the afternoons / early evening depending on the sector.

The Work and Study programme runs every Monday to Friday throughout the year. Accommodation is available from Sunday to Saturday. Students can travel for a week, two weeks or longer. We are able to tailor packages to suit your requirements and the time you have available.

Location

Granada is most famously known for the Alhambra, a breathtaking palace reflecting Granada’s historic Moorish influence. This influence runs right through the city and can be seen in it's architecture, culture and narrow winding cobblestone streets. Granada is the capital of the province and is home to one of Spain’s greatest universities. Despite being a small city, with over 60,000 students Granada is a bustling place with a vibrant and lively atmosphere. With cafés, restaurants, bars and terraces all offering a variety of tapas and other local treats, Granada is the perfect place to study Spanish and experience southern Spanish culture.

The school is located in the heart of Granada close to the cathedral and at the foot of the Albaicín, 5 minutes walk from the Alhambra. Set in a recently renovated historical building, the school is spread over 4 floors; the ground and first floor house the school office, library, classrooms, computer lab with free internet connection, and a patio for the students to meet. The upper two floors consist of fully equipped apartments and a terrace which offers a panoramic view over Granada.

Language Course

The core course comprises 20 lessons which concentrate on learning and actively using Spanish. The tuition is very much practice oriented. You will participate in group sessions alongside other students of a similar level, with lessons focused on improving all aspects of the language; speaking listening, reading and writing. There are 4 classes per day and these take place during the mornings. This course is designed for students who wish to learn or improve their Spanish, meet new people and have some free time to participate in Spanish culture and life in Granada.

You will be given a written assessment before you travel and a speaking assessment on the first morning before lessons in order to place you in the group most suited to your ability level. Classes have an international flavour and a lively feel because they are grouped by ability not nationality or age.

Accommodation

For students wanting to completely immerse themselves in the Spanish language and culture we recommend that you stay with one of our carefully selected Spanish hosts. They will not only introduce you to the Spanish way of life and help you practise the Spanish language but will also give you a taste of local and delicious regional specialities. Host accommodation is situated within 45 minutes total journey time of the school and provide half board (breakfast & evening meal) from the Sunday before your course starts to the Saturday after it finishes. Subject to availability, an extra day on one side of your trip may be available on request to facilitate flight dates.

Students of 16 years or older also have the option of staying in one of the school self catering residences with other international students; single rooms are available.

Transfers

Typically students travelling to Granda fly to either Granada Airport directly or Malaga Airport. There are many more direct flights to Malaga than Granada from the UK.

Transfers can be arranged for a fee on request from either airport. See prices in the booker above. Alternatively, we can provide directions and all the details you need to use public transport - the ALSA bus (the equivalent of the UK National Express) runs from the airport to Granada bus station and is very cost effective. It takes approximately 2 hours and costs between €13 and €30. We are happy to arrange this additional transport for you as part of your package for the cost of the transport and a small arrangement fee.

We can arrange transfers from Granada Bus Station Granada Train Station, Granada Airport or Malaga Airport (Approximately 2 hours travelling time).
