My daughter had a great work experience week. The family she stayed with was amazing, and not only were they keen to talk to her and explain what life in France is like – with plenty of conversations around the table -, but took her to museums and family / friends dinners, even with other students. They were truly wonderful. The work experience was very well organised too. My daughter’s confidence in French has really grown and she feels as she has learnt a lot. More importantly, the experience of being abroad and in Lille has made her mature a lot and she is already thinking about having a gap year and travelling abroad. An incredibly enriching experience for so many different reasons! Thank you very much

Host FAQs

Each host is different. Some are mothers whose older children have left home. Some hosts have children living at home. We are not able to guarantee the structure of the family that you would be allocated, however, we are able to take preferences when you book. We will do our best to fulfil your requirements. That said, our students are often surprised by how welcoming our hosts are and sometimes, the preconception of what you would look for in a host is very different to what students would say when they return from their travels.

Our hosts are arranged via an agent who has a local coordinator in each city in which we have hosts. Each host and all adults in the household, have the local equivalent of a DBS (police clearance) and are visited to ensure that the room and accommodation in general are welcoming and appropriate.

Flights are to be arranged independently but we are able to organise transfers from the airport, whether it be a private taxi or host collection. More information about transfers can be found here: Arrival and Departure Transfers

It would be expected that you arrive during sociable hours ideally (08:00 – 20:00).

Most are happy to provide flexible catering which could include, breakfast only, half board or full board. Self catering is available with some hosts or you may opt for no food provided and make use of local cafes and restaurants. Special dietary requirements can be catered for but may cost a supplement.

Extras

Each trip is tailor-made so you can travel on any day you like and return on any day you like – many students consider the cheaper days on which to travel and may go midweek to midweek.

Please note if you are also doing a language course, there is less flexibility on arrival and departure days.

If you would like to share a room with a friend, we are able to accommodate that. Please let us know at the time of booking so we can add it to your booking.
