France | Lille A Level French Revision

A-level Revision Course

Designed to complement the study of French at A-level, our A-level Revision Courses offer intensive small-group and 1:1 teaching to improve students’ skills in using French at an advanced level.

The group classes are tailored to students’ ability levels and cover general aspects of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Studying in groups of mixed nationalities and ages gives students a rich and immersive experience while in France.

Additional 1:1 lessons allow students to specify in advance the syllabus topics they wish to cover. For example, they could focus on a set text, an aspect of speaking or points of grammar.

Please be aware that the A-level Revision Course is not designed around any one single examination board or specification. It is suitable for any student taking A-level, Leaving Certificate, Highers, Finals or similar examinations.

Location

Close to the French-Belgian border, Lille was part of the County of Flanders. Today it is a bustling university city with 17th-century brick town houses, cobbled pedestrian streets and the large central square, the Grand Place. Lille was named the “City of Art and History” in 2004 and became the World Design Capital in 2020 through an innovative project: transforming its territory through design.

Lille is well connected to both Paris and London via the Eurostar, making it a very convenient city to visit and ideal if you want to avoid flying.

School

Housed in a former consulate, the language school is a tight-knit community of language enthusiasts. The intimate classes provide personalised learning with experienced teachers who are passionate about their subject-matter and dedicated to helping their students succeed.

The school sits in a lively, young university neighbourhood with plenty of cafes, restaurants, and shops to explore, as well as cultural events and activities. It’s the perfect location for language learners to immerse themselves in local culture and practice their language skills outside the classroom.

Language Course

Included in this price are 15 hours of group lessons which concentrate on learning and actively using French. Students participate in group sessions alongside other students of a similar level. Lessons focus on improving all aspects of the language: speaking listening, reading and writing. The tuition is very much practice-oriented.

In addition to this students have a 1-hour lesson focusing on pronunciation, 2 hours of grammar lessons and 4 hours of speaking lessons.

This course also includes 4 private lessons with a tutor across the week, the content of which can be determined by you.

There is a total of of 26 1-hour lessons across each week.

Students take a short assessment on the first morning before lessons to place them in the group most suited to their ability level. Classes have an international flavour and a lively feel because they are grouped by ability, not nationality or age.
