Location

There is a very friendly welcome waiting for you at the school in Montpellier, which has a lively and international feel. The school is in an exceptional location, right in the heart of the city, just a few steps away from the famous Place de la Comédie. It is the perfect place to learn French, discover French culture, meet new friends and enjoy the pleasures of the wonderful South of France!

The school has well equipped, light and comfortable classrooms, all with air conditioning and the latest technologies. In breaks and after lessons you can relax in the lounge area with a hot drink or snack, use the computers with internet access, enjoy the free wifi, discover the resource centre with a selection of French language movies, French literature and workbooks to complement your studies and browse the tourist information area containing local magazines, newspapers, tourist guides and cultural information.

The Place de la Comédie, the famous main square of Montpellier with its sunny café terraces, is on the school’s doorstep and you will find many bars, cafés, restaurants, shops, cinemas, museums and gardens within easy walking distance which will help you enjoy your stay in France to the full.

The school is located very close to the main bus and tramway stops, which can take you on the short journey to the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean sea. 

The school is opposite Montpellier's Saint-Roch main train station.

Language Course

The core course comprises 20 lessons which concentrate on learning and actively using French. The tuition is very much practice oriented. You will participate in group sessions alongside other students of a similar level, with lessons focused on improving all aspects of the language; speaking listening, reading and writing. There are four 45 minute lessons per day and these take place during the morning. This course is designed for students who wish to learn or improve their French, meet new people and have some free time to participate in French culture and life in Montpellier.

A further 6 lessons in the afternoons are aimed at perfecting your oral skills in French, oral comprehension, pronunciation and interaction.

Students also have 4 1:1 lessons throughout the week, the content of which can be determined in advance to suit individual needs. We will ask you before you travel what you would like to cover with your tutor during these individual sessions, for example grammar, a specific thematic topic or text, conversation or pronunciation. Each 1:1 lesson is 45 minutes long and they are taught in blocks of 2. 

You will be given a written assessment to complete upon booking and a speaking assessment on the first morning before lessons in order to place you in the group most suited to your ability level. Classes have an international flavour and a lively feel because they are grouped by ability not nationality or age.

Optional Social and Cultural Programme

The school offers a range of activities during the week, such as games evenings, cooking classes, exploring the old town, meals out at a local restaurants, film club nights, participation in local events and festivals and excursions further afield. These activities change weekly and are booked and paid for directly with the school during your stay.

Transfers

Transfers from the airport or train station on arrival and departure are included in the price of this package if booking host family accommodation. Transfers for students opting for accommodation in the student residence are available for a charge.

School Closures

The school is closed on 01/11/24, 11/11/24, 21/04/2025, 01/05/2025, 08/05/2025, 29/05/2025, 09/06/2025, 14/07/2025, 15/08/2025, and 11/11/2025. On these days an activity or excursion is offered instead of lessons.

The school closes for the holidays between 21/12/2024 - 05/01/2025 and 19/12/2025 - 04/01/2026
