Spain | Malaga A-level Revision Course

A-level Revision

Designed to complement the study of Spanish at A-level, our A-level Revision Courses offer intensive small-group and 1:1 teaching to improve students’ skills in using Spanish at an advanced level.

The group classes are tailored to students’ ability levels and cover general aspects of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Studying in groups of mixed nationalities and ages gives students a rich and immersive experience while in Spain.

Additional 1:1 lessons allow students to specify in advance the syllabus topics they wish to cover. For example, they could focus on a set text, an aspect of speaking or points of grammar.

Please be aware that the A-level Revision Course is not designed around any one single examination board or specification. It is suitable for any student taking A-level, Leaving Certificate, Highers, Finals or similar examinations.

Please note that students must be at least 17 to join this course

Location

Set against a backdrop of the rocky Iberian mountains and sparkling Mediterranean Sea, Malaga is a stunning city in the south of Spain. Capital of the Costa del Sol region and birthplace of Pablo Picasso, Malaga is the perfect mix of historical monuments with trendy neighbourhoods.

The city’s architecture reveals a rich palette of influences, from the Gothic-Mudéjar Iglesia de los Mártires and the Moorish Alcazaba fortress to the French-inspired Palacio de la Tinta. The city boasts a variety of museums including the Centro de Arte Contemporaneo, Centre Pompidou and Museo Carmen Thyssen, so you’re never short of things to do.

Malaga also has a thriving art scene centred around the neighbourhood of Soho. Decorated by colourful street art, Soho is full of artsy cafés, innovative restaurants, and impressive installations.

An event not to miss is the Feria de Malaga, a week-long festival in August. The city comes alive to celebrate with concerts, funfairs, flamenco and of course lots of delicious food!

Course

The core course comprises 20 lessons which concentrate on learning and actively using Spanish. The tuition is very much practice oriented. You will participate in group sessions alongside other international students of a similar level, with lessons focused on improving all aspects of the language; speaking listening, reading and writing. There are 4 classes per day and these take place during the morning.

In addition you will attend 5 group conversation classes with students of a similar ability to yourself.

You will have an additional 5 individual classes throughout the week, the content of which will be decided by you in advance. We will ask you before you travel what you would like to cover with your tutor during these individual sessions, for example grammar, a specific thematic topic, conversation or pronunciation.

This course is designed for students who wish to rapidly improve their Spanish with a view to taking public examinations.

You will be given a written assessment before you travel and a speaking assessment on the first morning before lessons in order to place you in the group most suited to your ability level. Classes have an international flavour and a lively feel because they are grouped by ability not nationality or age.

Once your level of Spanish and class have been established you will be invited to purchase the text for your lessons at a cost of approxiately €30. This will be available from the school on your first day.

Optional Social and Cultural Programme

The school offers a range of activities during the week, as well as longer full day excursions at the weekends. These are available for a charge and you can book through reception during your stay.
