This A Level Revision Course is a hybrid course of an Intensive Language Course, additional modules and 1:1 lessons in classes with students 16+, mixed nationalities.
We design this course package to complement A Level Spanish study and further deepen understanding of the language skills necessary to succeed at this standard and improve overall competence in Spanish with specific, personalised areas of study delivered through the 1:1 lessons.
Please note: This course does not focus on a particular exam board or the UK A Level specifically (apart from in the 1:1 lessons). This course, is however, appropriate for students taking A Level, Leaving Cert, IB, Highers, Finals or similar.
These courses are available every Monday to Friday throughout the year with accommodation Sunday to Saturday.
Located in the Castille and Léon region, Salamanca is a city rich in culture and a centre of international historical interest. Known as La Dorada (the golden city), its sandstone buildings glow in the sunshine, contrasting with the blue of the Tormes river on whose banks it stands.
As a historic university city Salamanca bubbles with an exciting and youthful student atmosphere. This makes Salamanca a great place to experience Spanish life away from the tourist trail and to get involved in the hustle and bustle of real life.
Salamanca played a key role in the birth of the modern Castilian language at the beginning of the Spanish Golden Age. Thanks to this, Salamanca is a major centre of teaching the Spanish language. The old town has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1988 and its continuing importance was reflected when it was named European City of Culture in 2002.
The Language school is located in a large square with gardens, trees, and green spaces, less than 10 minutes’ walk from the Plaza Mayor. The building has been completely renovated with the latest technology, including 23 air-conditioned classrooms with multimedia equipment, and a video and conference room. It also boasts a library, a kitchen specifically designed for cooking classes, as well as wireless Internet throughout the school.
This course is taught in 3 components:
You also have an opportunity to partake in optional tutor sessions with other students where staff can help you on specific questions and offer exercises for you to understand the language more.
This course is designed for students who wish to learn or improve their Spanish, meet new people and have some free time to participate in Spanish culture and life in Salamanca.
You will be given a written assessment before you travel and a speaking assessment on the first morning before lessons in order to place you in the group most suited to your ability level. Classes have an international flavour and a lively feel because they are grouped by ability not nationality or age.
The school offers free activities during the week such as Sport games, Lectures and Spanish films which are totally free of charge to join. The school also offers further activities and longer full day excursions at the weekends which are available at a cost, and you can book through reception during your stay. You will be introduced to the activities as part of your induction on your first day. These activities change weekly.
The selection varies from Spanish cooking, Horse riding, Football or tennis matches and film showings.
For students wanting to immerse themselves in the Spanish language and culture we recommend a stay in host accommodation with one of our carefully selected Spanish hosts. They not only introduce the Spanish way of life and help practise the Spanish language, but also give a taste of local and delicious regional specialities. Host accommodation is situated within 45 minutes’ journey time of the school. Half board accommodation is provided (breakfast & evening meal) from the Sunday before the course starts (evening meal) to the Saturday after it finishes (breakfast). Subject to availability, an extra day on one end of the trip may be available on request to facilitate flight dates.
Special diets can be accommodated, some at a small supplement.
Students also have the option of staying in one of the school’s catered residences with other international students in single room. These halls of residence are a 10-minute walk from the school and a 5-minute walk from the Plaza Mayor. This is on a half board basis starting with an evening meal on the Sunday before the course and breakfast on the Saturday after your course ends.
Bedding is provided, but students must bring their own towels to their accommodation.
Transfers can be arranged for a fee on request from Madrid Airport. These can be organised either via a private driver or a bus ticket with chaperones either side.
